Fighting COVID-19: A Periodic Summary

With the tremendous help from our generous donors and organizations, ACCEF has held four rounds of fundraising over the past month, purchased and delivered large amounts of medical equipment to more than 20 hospitals in and around Wuhan, Hubei. These medical equipment include 40 portable breathing machines (8 from the collaboration with CIEA), 12 ICU invasive ventilators (8 from the collaboration with BayHelix and Dandangzhe Foundation), 13 ECG monitors, 3 blood gas analyzers, 3M N95 1860 masks, facial screens, and blood oxygen meters, which are greatly needed by the frontline hospitals.

American Chinese Culture and Education Foundation (ACCEF) was incorporated in California in July 2004, and granted the 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status by IRS in December 2004, as a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious public charity organization.

We are dedicated to promote Chinese culture and popularize education. Since 2004, ACCEF has sponsored thousands of students, renovated/rebuilt 17 schools, and established multiple student awards and short-term fellowships, such as the One-on-one Rainbow Plan, the Proud Girl, and the House of Left-behind Children, to support primary education in the low-income areas in China. The Youth Care Club (YCC), which represents the younger generation of ACCEF members, not only has been actively involved in the local charity events in San Diego, but has also visited and helped teaching during the summer in those areas in China.

Upon the catastrophic Wenchuan Earthquake in China, ACCEF was the first non-profit organization abroad that responded, with $150 million donations to help saving lives and provide financial support for teachers and students.

The ACCEF-sponsored Chinese New Year Charity Gala is a prestigious show of Chinese culture and art, serving to bond fellow Chinese families and friends, as well as to promote charitable activities. Coordinated by many local organizations, the show gathers hundreds of performers and an audience of nearly a thousand people every year. The tickets are usually sold out, and all proceeds of the ticket sales go to our charity fund. ACCEF canceled the fourteenth Charity Gala that was originally scheduled to be on February 16, 2020, in response to the outbreak of COVID-19. We are now focused to mobilize all available resources to fight this pandemic.
